You should have checked before this points, to make sure letting is allowed on your park. This can be a good idea to generate some income to help pay your site fees etc. Many of the larger parks offer a letting service, which often means you signing your caravan over to them for a number of weeks during the summer for a set price. Will this be a time when you want to use it yourself - school holidays in the middle of summer will be the time when you can charge a higher premium. You will need to check and clean them between lets, this can be a problem if you live some distance from the park, unless you can find someone locally to do it for you. The disadvantages of letting are, more wear and tear on your caravan, most people want to hire for full weeks which means you cannot use it yourself at the weekend and possibly higher insurance premiums. On some of the larger holiday parks owners have more than one static caravan and run it as a small business letting them out. If you get the right park and the correct type of caravan this can work but be very careful and do your homework first what the costs will be, site fees, insurance, cleaning and don't forget to take depreciation into account. Start with one caravan and if you find you can make a profit then build on that. The trend in this country is it is much easier to let a modern top of the range caravan than a basic model although on the continent this is not always the case I suppose people will do without a few home comforts if the sun shines every day. The
leisure industry can be affected in many ways such as fuel shortage,
foot and mouth disease, very wet season are just a few simple examples
so be prepared, a bad year can happen without warning but the chances
are your expenses will remain the same so the more caravans you have
will probably make you good profit in a good year could prove very
expensive in a bad year.
